What We Offer
Future Minds Literacy and Adult Education Inc. Literacy component also known as basic education program for adults, offers one-to-one and classroom instruction in reading, writing and math. These classes cover a wide range of skills depending upon the needs and goals of the students. For example, some students want to read to their children and help them with schoolwork. Others want to prepare for the written driver’s license exam or understand printed forms. Read newspaper, or their mail etc.
Future Minds Literacy and Adult Education Inc. GED component prepares students for the official GED exams which includes four tests on Reasoning through Language Arts, Science, Social Studies and Mathematical Reasoning.
Future Minds Literacy and Adult Education Inc. instructor and volunteers prepare students to succeed on these tests and also teach them test-taking skills. Due to the test being offered 100% online it is crucial for all students to have basic computer skills. Future Minds Literacy and Adult Education Inc. provides a minimum range of computer training classes for beginners and then progress to specific software applications such as Word.
Eligibility Requirements
- Have not graduated from an accredited high school or received a high school equivalency certificate or diploma.
- Must not be currently enrolled in a regular high school, and must be at least 16 years of age.
- Applicants for GED testing in Georgia who are 16 must receive approval from his/her high school
- Mandatory verification prior to enrollment
- State picture issued identification
- Letters of referral (from referral agencies, or Effingham Connect); if applicable
- Documentation of any accommodations as documented by a physician (Must be dated with the last 5 years)
- Underage youth (Ages 16 & 17) must pre-register by a parent or guardian
- A copy of any previous GED test scores
- Applicants for GED testing in Georgia who are 16 must receive approval from his/her high school
Annual Fashion Show
Future Minds Literacy and Adult Education and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Annual Fashion Show showcase customized clothing featuring designers from local and surrounding areas. This event features special guest host as well as red carpet celebrity community host. Proceeds will assist Future Minds Inc. with daily operational costs, students text books, transportation, pre-test, the official GED Exam to include a scholarship, Miss Phi Beta Sigma Pageant. The scholarship is set to go to a young lady who is talented, community oriented, and has excelled academically with a positive attitude.
Month of April
Annual Book Shower
Future Minds Literacy and Adult Education Inc. will be teaming up with local and national authors to motivate reading across all ages. This event will offer a wide selection of books to choose from children books to adult romance. This will also give teachers a chance to see and buy books they might want for their classroom. Trading Books will also be available at a discounted price. All authors are published and will be expecting local bookworms to support their books. Proceeds will assist Future Minds Inc. with daily operational costs, students textbooks, transportation, pre-test, the official GED Exam.
Month of June
Smarter than a Fifth Grader
Future Minds Literacy and Adult Education, Inc. Smarter than a Fifth Grader is created and designed to celebrate literacy. During this event local officials, parents, students, local business owners will participate in answering questions like those that appear on state test. This event is to promote awareness as well as create partnership between the community school in Chatham County. The event is only $1.00 however, larger donations will be accepted. Proceeds will assist Future Minds Inc. with daily operational costs, students textbooks, transportation, pre-test, the official GED Exam.

Alter Ego Party
Future Minds Literacy and Adult Education, Inc. Alter Ego and Masquerade Party
allow guest an amazing evening to highlight their unique personalities and talents while challenging the stigma and statistics on literacy. At this event guest will enjoy music, wine, hors d’oeuves. Best Alter Ego Look will receive a prize. 50/50 Raffle and drawings will also available at the event. Proceeds will assist Future Minds Inc. with daily operational costs, students textbooks, transportation, pre-test, the official GED Exam.

Little Black Dress Cocktail Dress Party
Future Minds Literacy and Adult Education, Inc. Little Black Dress Cocktail Party is a fun evening where women can showcase their most darling little black dresses and exotic shoes, while men display their favorite suit and tie. Enjoy music, wine, hors d’oeuves, and silent auctioned wonderful items donated from local businesses to benefit Future Minds Literacy an Adult Education, Inc. Proceeds will assist Future Minds Inc. with daily operational costs, students textbooks, transportation, pre-test, the official GED Exam.
